Twenty-two days. 265 miles. Logistical complexities that would make a NASA employee weep. More lip balm than I’ve ever used in my life. And last September, I thru-hiked the John Muir Trail.
This was, without a doubt, the most beautiful place I have ever seen in my life. And thru-hiking this trail is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It restored my connection to God and taught me to love humanity again.
Over the next few posts, I’ll tell you how I did it: permits, trailheads, food logistics, the huge climate and terrain difference between Northeast woods and the high Sierras, and how the JMT compares to the LT. What I’ll do differently next time. And maybe I’ll get a little gushy. Scratch that. I’ll definitely get gushy.
Stick around.
